Objectives
This study was conducted to determine the awareness, knowledge of and practice related to recommendations included in the Philippine Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) on the Diagnosis and Management of Well Differentiated Thyroid Cancer 2021.

Methods

This is a cross sectional descriptive study using a self-administered questionnaire aimed at assessing guideline awareness and adherence to the guidelines.  After a nine month period of dissemination following CPG release, the research group recruited respondents by sending survey invitations to clinical practitioners who met the inclusion criteria through judgement sampling. 

Results
One thousand six hundred responses comprising of 89% trainees and 11% consultants were initially obtained.  General surgeons comprise 86.2% of the respondents. The respondents are more aware of and are using the American Thyroid Association CPG than the local one. Only 47.8% of the respondents are aware of the Philippine Thyroid Cancer CPG. Most of the recommendations are being followed in their practice except for two: the use of TSH and neck ultrasound.

Conclusions

Most Filipino consultants and trainees still use the ATA 2915 guidelines but the DOH 2021 guidelines comes in at a close second. There is positive attitude, knowledge and practice scores among the respondents for the DOH 2021 guidelines.
